Bright Framework Committee
I’m pleased to have been appointed to the Alpine council’s ten-person Bright Framework Committee, which had its first meeting yesterday afternoon. The full list of the committee members and the ‘areas of interest’ from which they were appointed, is as follows:
- Mark Barnes – General community
- Derrick Butler – Environmental
- Bernece Delany – Youth Representation
- Ray Dixon – Business sector
- Gerrard Gray – Development industry (Gerrard works for Dickens Real Estate)
- Stuart Hargreaves – Youth representation
- Nick Malkin – Development industry (Nick is a local civil engineer)
- Graeme Owen – General community
- John Robinson – Business sector (John is the proprietor of Bright Subway)
- Bev Schwarz – Environmental (Bev is the proprietor of Karnu Cottages – next to the golf course)
The purpose of the Framework Committee is to provide advice to council by acting as a conduit between the community and the council in relation to a very broad range of planning issues, which are to be incorporated into the Township Framework Plan. This will include some important matters such as the prioritising of the CBD streetscape renewal works and the implementation of residential character controls, if considered necessary.
A draft framework plan is expected to be released for public comment as early as next month, so it’s good to see that the council administration is serious about this project. The committee is chaired by council’s major project’s co-ordinator, Simon Jones, and overseen by council’s manager of strategic services, John Carter.
At the inaugural meeting, which was attended by 7 of the 10 committee members, it was agreed that the names and contact details of committee members should be made public, so that interested community members can have more direct input into the process. I’ll put the contact details here, once they’re available.
