Leanne woke up this morning with a slightly sore eye, but by lunch time it was causing her so much pain that I took her to the Chemist in Bright, to get some drops or something to relieve it. Thankfully, the pharmacist on duty, Jonathan Hurst, was ‘on the ball’ and suggested it might be a case of the dreaded ‘Christmas eye’, a serious inflamation caused by a mite that is believed to be unique to this area. Apparently it only occurs around the November – January period. A quick trip to the doctor confirmed the diagnosis and hopefully the prescription drops will get rid of it quick smart. It’s just as well we got onto it straight away because, according to the Doctor, this thing scrapes layers of the cornea and by tomorrow morning Leanne’s eye would have been a real mess. The discolouration above is from the tests and anaesthetic used by the doctor but I think that green spot might indicate where the thing is!

That looks nasty Leanne. You had better not tell your Mum, she might be worried about you.

She’s a lot better now, CJ, you’ll be glad to hear. Leanne wore a black pirate’s patch all day yesterday, including when we walked the puppies!!! But today it’s improved a lot – not painful, just a bit of blurred vision.
