Shoes over the power lines

This could be someone's idea of a joke.

Most people know what this is supposed to mean but maybe someone is just playing a joke (which is hardly funny for the people who live in the houses nearby!) The shoes have been thrown over a power line that crosses Camp Street in Bright and, while they’re not directly outside any house in the street, two are close. I guess it’s a job for the fire brigade and/or the police to get  them down.
