Alpine council elections opinion poll (2nd attempt!)

I’ve put up this replacement poll, as the first one had only registered 46 votes over the 4 or 5 days that it was up, despite hundreds of visitors to the topic. It seems the initial settings error prevented a lot of people from voting, even after the problem was fixed. So we’ll just start again. The results of the first poll can be viewed by clicking on “more” below.

Please note:

  1. This poll is only for the purposes of gathering opinion on first preference voting intentions. Voting in the Alpine council election is by postal ballot and on the official ballot paper voters are required to place a number beside every candidate’s name.
  2. The opinion poll is set so that there can only be one vote per computer. The order of names is randomly selected by the wordpress ‘polldaddy’ program and will alter at random.

The results of the first poll were:

  • John Robinson      9
  • Geoff Scott           8
  • Ray Dixon            7
  • Peter Roper          4
  • Narda Cain           4
  • Zuvele Leschen    3
  • Ray Dyer              3
  • Mark Steven         3
  • Nino Mautone      2
  • Greg Lee              1
  • Graham Cocks     1
  • Daryl Pearce        1
  • Tony Keeble        0
  • Mario Vaccaro     0
  • Jan Vonarx          0

If this opinion poll is right then Robinson, Scott & Dixon would all be elected, as their votes are over the quota of 6.75 (46 votes divided by 8, plus 1). Wishful thinking?

After 50 votes it’s Robinson a clear leader (again), with two other ‘business people’, Scott & Dixon 2nd & 3rd. Maybe there’s a message in this after all?

75 votes in and Robinson is streaking away with it. He’s either a shoe-in or he’s got a lot of relatives out there.
