unAustralian of the year

What does ABC stand for, Eddy? A Bastard and a C...?

What does ABC stand for, Eddy? A Bastard and a C...?

Sorry Sam, he’s only a runner up

Outspoken social commentator (and professional promoter of lamb chops), Sam Kekovich, has given his unAustralian of the year award to the former CEO of ABC Learning Centres, ‘Fast’ Eddy Groves, who proved that there are just some industries that should NEVER be allowed to be publicly listed on the stock exchange so that dishonest, greedy and sleazy executives can bleed the firm dry and then deliberately send it into receivership, while stashing all the cash overseas.

Kekovich sums it up pretty well when he says (in yet another ‘cash for comments’ news story’): “That’s what you get if you focus too much on Lamborghinis, and not enough on Lamb.”

BUT,I think there’s someone else who in this past year has committed an act so heinous, so grovelling, so cheap, so low and so … well just plain wrong, that he truly deserves to be named unAustralian of the year.

Dare to top this one if you like, but I think it’s head & shoulders over the rest for sheer unAustralianess. It even beats Sophie Mirabella’s despicable performance on ‘national apology day’. My nomination for unAustralian of the year is:

This is as 'unAustralian' as it gets.
This is as ‘unAustralian’ as it gets.

PS: Kekovich makes my short list of nominees too (just behind Sophie) for advocating that Aussies love lamb, when we all know that’s not true. Aussies prefer beef, as in Four ‘n Twenty pies & McDonalds. Have you ever heard of a McLamb burger?

We’re talking generation gap here Ray. Sam was born in 1950, and grew up in a time when Mum’s Sunday roast leg of lamb was as close to a religious experience as scoring a 10 for the first time.

Much and all as I pay due respect to the meat pie, don’t tell me that the uncertain contents crammed into pastry of even more uncertain origin can hold a candle to pinkish lamb, coated in gravy and accompanied by roast spuds, cauliflower and peas. As for McPewks, that’s bloody heresy and is probably grounds for 48 hours in the stocks or a jolly good thrashing!

However, I do agree with your choice of the Septic Dwarf, noting though that as he’s unlikely to surface again, the dreaded Indi Blight is bound to crack it in 2010.

Geez, the internet sure spreads the word fast. The Septic Dwarf has already responded to your rant: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=7tjftg2XW_M&feature=related

I prefer beef, Noel, but not the meat pie or Maccas type.

A thick sirloin steak (cooked medium – on a very hot hotplate) or a roast beef (eye fillet of course, but the cheaper cuts can be OK too).

Lamb makes a good curry and not much else in my opinion.

If you promise to be good, I might invite you around next time the Missus cooks up a leg, washed down of course with a good Happy Valley red.

As for steak, nothing wrong with that either, although your preference for medium is somewhat plebian – blue’s the go!

Sorry, Noel, that Howard Youtube link went into the spam box. I think it’s the best speech he’s ever made. Maybe he’s alright after all?

As for blue steak, why not just eat it live?

Eddie Groves of ABC Learning has just claimed the title by lining up with the unpaid employees as a creditor claiming $3.s million.

That has to be the most unAustralian act that any prick could come up with. The only way John Howard could top that would be for him to take out American citizenship.

Howard! Of course! But he seems a little less threatening now that he’s out of office. I’m voting for Stephen Conroy over the internet ban. Stifling my free speech is very un-Australian in my eyes.

Guess what? Lamb chops for tea tonight – how Aussie is that?

Well Greg, Eddy has only ripped off the shareholders, abused the Government’s trust and upset a lot of people who need their kids minded. Howard, on the other hand, has disgraced the entire nation with his all the way with “W” suck act. Groves is too insignificant to receive this honour.

As for Conroy, LuLi, he’s just the message boy. I think those orders are coming from somewhere else.

Enjoy the lamb chops, Noel. We all need to economise.
