"Well you told me to go out and grab 'em!"

Witnesses described “Benny Hill-style” antics as Mr Scrinis approached them with his hands extended, asking permission to touch their breasts ~ The Australian

Our local Federal Member for Indi, Sophie Mirabella (Liberal) seems to have a problem in getting good staff, even when they’re apparently a ’family friend’.

This time she’s accepted the resignation of her newly appointed media adviser Anthony Scrinis, a real whack-job and ‘nice guy’, who she drafted from Port Melbourne to replace the last one who also left under a bit of a cloud (something about doing something in a stationery cupboard, I believe).

But Scrinis is a real piece of work. The allegations against him include groping women’s breasts & lewd behaviour at Wednesday night’s parliamentary press gallery’s Mid-Winter Ball in Canberra, attended by a who’s who of parliament including PM Kevin Rudd, Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull and their respective spouses.

According to The Australian, Scrinis is “accused of fondling women on the breasts and making lewd suggestions to more than 10 female guests at the ball. He also heckled the entertainment, which included the TV comedienne Effie.”

He’s also alleged to have questioned guests about their sexuality, extramarital relationships and “deviant sexual activity”, and to have generally carried on like a real goose. The Age reports  that Scrinis “appeared to be in either exceptionally high spirits or under the influence of alcohol”:

Witnesses say at one point during the evening he burst in on a private conversation between Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull and ball guests in which he boasted in a loud voice about “hot babes” in the Liberal Party, and made exaggerated gestures … His loud and erratic behaviour at the function was noted by some of the entertainers onstage during the night.

One unsettled Canberra journalist … told The Age Mr Scrinis had inquired whether he participated in deviant sexual activity. Senior press gallery journalist Karen Middleton … (said) she had received a formal complaint from two guests who said “they’d had their breasts grabbed” by Mr Scrinis.

It’s pretty embarrassing for Mirabella who, ironically, is the Opposition spokesperson on women’s affairs. She can sure pick ‘em.

I wonder if this will now give Sophie the chance to actually employ someone from her own electorate?

I met this guy years ago and he is a nymph. Lewd is an understatement, this guy gets an erection just speaking to you. I think he will try with anything that moves. And yes – looks like he got the job because of the greek/family connections, it is not new in those circles but nepotism continues to rule big time. He should seek help for his inappropriate behaviour which looks has not changed over the years. I am worried that as he ages he might shift his focus to a more vulnerable segments of society.

I can not believe he is still out there. He needs help!

Thanks for that, Sally. I’m sure you’ll appreciate that as the proprietor of this website I must point out to any readers that what you’ve written (which I will allow to stand) is just YOUR OPINION on Mr Scrinis’ character & behaviour.

Yes Ray – it is my opinion based on first hand experience though I put it for public good, I don’t wish to be sued and dragged into the mud by association. please delete. I think he has caused himself enough embarressment and left a good trail for others to be warned.

This guy is great for a laugh – just take a look at his website @ http://www.scrinis.info/

He started his counter at 10 Million – that’s so 1995!

And his pledge to the community, and I quote:
“i will subject myself to random drug and alcohol testing”. I can’t wait to see the results.

Also, can anyone confirm if he is related to Sophie Mirabella (née Panopoulos). I’m taking a shot in the dark here but I’m guessing that’s how he got the job. His other employment appears to be through relatives like his uncle, the owner of the greek newspaper neos kosmos.

I’m stunned that there was nobody who decked this twisted little fucker at the media party.

And kinda disappointed Tanya P. didn’t kick him him in the nuts when he tried to grope her.

Where I grew up, guys who tried this shit got pounded, by the women, first, and then the men took care of anything that was left.

Yeah, that nose could do with a good breaking, Darryl. Big target, hard to miss.
