In the early 70s at the height of the Watergate affair, calls for US President Richard Nixon to “Release the tapes” of his White House conversations with aides dominated the media. Eventually he relented and, as we know, it was quite revealing. Nixon was up to his neck in the cover up, was impeached and resigned.
The parallel with Utegate/Emailgate/Grechgate (take your pick of ‘gates’) is very real, if not as significant in treachery: Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull, who has been interviewed by Australian Federal Police, MUST provide them with access to all Liberal Party computers. Government Minister Lindsay Tanner sums it up perfectly:
“What I do think they (Turnbull & the Liberals) should do is come clean with all of the relevant computer material on this matter, because they are intimately involved in it.”
“Perhaps innocently, perhaps they have been duped by somebody, whether it’s Mr Grech or somebody else who knows, until they actually come clean nobody will be able to form a view about any of those things.”

And when you think that OzEmail was Turnbull’s original path to financial riches, his creation … yeah, he knows all the ropes necessary to come clean on this. Crikey, he’ll probably have no arse left to talk of by the time the biting finally eases up.

Oh, Abbott is up to his (huge) ears in the plotting to get Costello back. Why else do you think he’s being seen to defend Turnbull with ridiculous statements like “He hasn’t flinched”?
Watch, it’ll be a ‘handover’. Turnbull will announce he’s stepping down over his ‘mistake’ and ‘poor judgement’ and then Costello will be elected unopposed. He doesn’t have the balls to acually make a challenge.
As for Deputy, yep, that would be Abbott’s condition for organising the numbers.
Of course I might be completely wrong about Costello but one thing’s for sure – Turnbull is finished.

All computers directly & indirectly connected to Turnbull and all Liberal MPs. I’d be checking Joe’s too. If they’re ‘clean’ then fine, he’s in the clear. But if he doesn’t allow access he’s gone. Well, he’s gone anyway by the look of it.
Surely you mean all computers including Swans. Isn’t this situation giving him a lovely smother.

Doesn’t it all go to prove that ex lawyers & merchant bankers don’t make good politicians? Turnbull is a real case in point. Hewson was a merchant banker too (Keating destroyed him).
I realise Howard was a lawyer and that he could be said to be successful in that he won 4 elections, but he was only a lawyer for a short while before he entered politics – and he was only a suburban, conveyancing type lawyer … a pen pusher. A real little suburban nerd – you see them everyhere.

Wonder what they spoke of. We may find out in time there is some sort of inquiry going on and Swan, Grech and Turnbull have to answer questions. Allison Ritchie is Carol Brown’s niece, not the other way round. Your point? They were both elected, one didn’t employ the other. And Mr Sheen’s greatest asset is probably still that he isn’t John Howard, but he’ll do for now. At least HIS judgment seems sound.

For your information, I don’t class myself as a “lefty”. I’m certainly not a right winger either but I am conservative on some matters and more “alternative” on others. I’m also a capitalist & opportunist (and proud of it).
Most of all I pride myself with a sense of what’s right and what’s wrong, and what IS a real issue and what is not.
In this case the small matter of there being some sort of communication between Swan and Grant is insignificant and inconsequential.
But Turnbull’s reliance on a faked email and his connection to the strange character Godwin Grech behind the thing, IS significant.
You don’t bring the reputation of the PM and the Treasurer into question on flimsy evidence. And if you do it on faked evidence you’re a dud.

Would you let any one go through all your personal computers based on accusation? That my read on it as far as Malcolm Turnbull is concerned. His Work station is different, as far as I know he is fully co-operating.
Stuart, to answer your absurd question: YES, if I had been accused or suspected of being involved in a scam to bring down the Prime Minister of this country I would certainly let the AFP, the Vic Police, ASIO, you and anyone else check out ALL computers within my reach and/or control.
