Friday night flop

Posted in AFL footy by Ray Dixon on 4 July, 2009

Was that football we watched last night between Collingwood & Essendon? It looked more like circle work. Don’t these two sides know how to attack? Have they ever heard of the corridor, or kicking long to someone who can take a mark? How did Essendon hope to beat Collingwood by imitating their ‘around-the-boundary-with-short- passes’ game plan?

I feel sorry for the 80,000 people who turned up to witness what James ‘Essendon & Collingwood games are all that matter’ Hird described beforehand as “the most important game since the 1990 grand final.” What a joke, what an anti-climax, what a boring game. Who won? I’ve no idea, I fell asleep.

(Actually, I don’t feel sorry for any of them)

    *Yawn* Is it over yet?

On a brighter note (hahaha), watch out for breaking news about Sarah Palin – only a rumour at this stage.

Thanks for the Palin tip, Rox. So she’s resigning as Governor of Alaska (you can see Russia from there!) and there’s speculation she wants to run as the Republican candidate at the 2012 US Presidential election? That would be fun. It would also guarantee Obama gets back in. Maybe she should emigrate to Oz and become the leader of the Liberal Party? I’d like to see that.

Apparently there’s “growing speculation” that there’s some sort of trouble brewing, so she should do the Libs nicely.

Yeah, I watched the video and she didn’t give a real explanation for her sudden decision to resign. But there were some vague references to being fed up with the political processes, which could mean she’s been found out on something (else) dodgy that she’s done. I wouldn’t trust that woman as far as I could pick her up and throw her. But I’d like to give it a try (picking her up) because she’s not half bad looking.

As long as she didn’t talk.

Rumors swirling that Sarah Palin may be under federal investigation regarding her house and who paid for it. Details fuzzy.

    From Twitter.

Yes very strange. The game and the resignation. Have you watched Palin’s resignation speech Ray? A link is on Bolt. One of the strangest little pieces of political theatre I’ve ever seen I think.

I couldn’t make head or tail of what she was saying. Sounded distinctly unhinged. And all these other campers standing around and you could see them pretty well all thinking: “WTF?”

Then she hugs everybody and rushes off. We-eird.

    And she’s done it:

    a) in the middle of the media scrum about Jacko, and

    b) on the Friday of the long weekend before July 4th, when nobody in America is thinking about politics and everybody is thinking about get-togethers, BBQs and fireworks.

    Verry suss.

The weirdest part was the US analysts trying to put interpretations on what she said. I mean, does she ever make sense? Does she ever put a fully coherent sentence together? No, she’s a wacko of the highest order, a real brainless twit. BUT, I think there was something extra in her demeanour this time – she looked like she was shitting herself.

PS Bertus, I better put this up as a separate post. I’ll get the video.

This one might have legs. I’m stoked.

Sorry to bugger up your thread Ray.

It was a yawn, sorry folks. I should be more one-eyed but can’t muster it.

Essendon still have a ways to go.

They were suckered in to playing Collingwood at their own game, Pevva, when they should have just played theirs – down the middle.
