This article infuriated me. When I was about 10 I nearly went deaf and had to be operated on. Do these parents have right to deny their children the right to hear? Or are they being selfish?

Oh Rox! Don’t be hating on Sci Fi. Dr Dave prescribes you a dose of Joss Whedon’s excellent Sci Fi / Western cross over Firefly followed by the new version of Battlestar Galactica.

If you can watch either of those without becoming a sci fi convert then I’d be amazed. The story telling in each of them is exquisite and their sci fi setting allows ideas and situations that you simply can’t otherwise extend story telling to. In good Sci Fi, like Asimov for example, it is the human element that makes the story great.

But if anyone wants explain the allure of sci-fi, have at it.

Except for Alien/s and CS Lewis and Red Dwarf, it’s awful. And only them because of good film-making, writing and comedy respectively.
