Holding to say thank you …

What about GG, Tim?

What about GG, Tim?

… with a sausage sizzle !

I’ve just read in today’s Herald-Sun that State Minister for Water, Tourism and just about everything else, Tim Holding, is putting on a free barbecue in Bright today to say thank you to those involved in his rescue from the icy slopes of Mt Feathertop about two months ago.

Unfortunately we didn’t get an invite, even though Mr Holding’s family stayed here at GG during the ordeal and we helped shield them from the media. I’m not really upset though because, according to the report, the invitees* are the 100 volunteers who were directly involved in the search & rescue operation, and that’s fair enough. But who knows, maybe Tim will drop in with a free sausage? I’ll get the camera ready just in case.

(* Although I bet a few freeloaders from the Alpine Council turn up!)

    The Holding has landed

A helicopter just flew over and landed somewhere in Bright. I bet it’s Tim Holding. And I bet the BBQ is out at the footy oval – where he was flown to after being rescued. Enjoy your lunch.

Do you think this is coming out of government coffers, if so, then I want my piece of sausage.

The article says he’s paying for it himself, Don. But I wonder if he paid for the Chopper flight?

Choppers are extremely expensive. I’m tipping a CBD to Bright, wait around for 2 hours, and then return to Melbourne would cost anywhere between 4 and 6 thousand.
    Who’s paying for this stunt?

The chopper flew out at 2.30 pm so he was here for 2.5 hours. He didn’t even wave to me as he flew over. Spurned.

Well, Raymond, there you go. His unrestrained show of gratitude to you for your dedication to screen his family from the media circus was awesome. Hope you show him your appreciation for this justified recognition when the opportunity arises.

Never mind. After all, it was just a simple gesture intended solely for the peasants who responded to his calls for help.
