Bright Rod Run barriers

Posted in Alpine Shire Council, Bright Australia by Ray Dixon on 27 October, 2009

The Alpine Council has been good enough to drop off a map of the:

New ‘road management plan’ for the Bright Hot Rod Event from 6 – 8 Nov.

Contrary to the way the original notice read, the rods will not be banned from the CBD, however, access will be severely limited and they will no longer be able to go around the clock tower. The following map shows where the barricades will be placed and how the traffic will flow. I’m not sure if this will work:

I think this will mean they'll be doing 'laps' over a much bigger area.

So it seems they’ve outlawed right turns, WTF? People will be doing U turns all over the place, won’t they?

I think it’s actually going to make it harder for locals to get to the shops than what it was when it was a ‘free for all’. And yes, I can see a lot of rodders doing U-turns on the GAR.
