Alpine Opinion

This one really counts

Why I think Lydia Lassila’s Olympic win was much more significant than Torah Bright’s:

1. The aerials are every bit the equivalent of 10-metre diving in the real Olympics, whereas snow-boarding is very much the equivalent of skate-boarding, which I hope never becomes an Olympic event.

2. Wasn’t it great for Lydia to stick it to those judges and the Chinese?

I thought the womens aerials was fantastic when Cooper had the gold but with six more competitors to go and both Chinese skyed fantastic, both Chinese 1st and 2nd taking lead.

Than the second last skier Lydia Lassila for Australian skied in her final aerial, she was just fantastic in her brilliants with a brilliants score too, taking the lead with brilliants, as the last Chinese skier had to go all out to better our Lydia Lassila, the Chinses lass fell in her all out attempt.

Ya the Chinese and Lydia Lassila was just all brilliant, Lydia was more brilliant to win gold.

    Ray wants this about:-
“Wasn’t it great for Lydia to stick it to those judges and the Chinese”

    Do I detect yoborisium.

The Chinese competitors were fantastic and the judges were consistent in the scoring.

Your not a yobbo are you?

A yobbo? No, Roman, you must have missed the build up and the ‘nark’ that went between Lydia & the Chinese over the judges’ apparent bias in the preliminaries. I think it was great that Lydia ovecame that set back and still won.

so I take it the Winter Olympics are still on, sing out when they finish

If the last competitor didn’t fall over, the Chinese would have won

I’m sort-of with you, Baldrick. However, there are some events in the Winter (not really) Olympics that are meritorious, such as Lydia’s. As for Tora’s event though … words fail me.

Greg, and if St Kilda had kicked straight in last year’s GF …… ? But they didn’t.

Just waiting for the greatest show on Earth, the cricket has put me into an almost irretrievable coma and the skiing show hasn’t doesn’t do it for me.

I just hope that the Italians don’t try to pick up degree of difficulty points in their diving displays

Which team do the Italians play for? Carlton?

So the AFL has found a new name for the Western Sydney team? Sounds good.

And on the subject of footy tipping comps, are you going to do one for the World Cup (will clarify: football/soccer), I reckon I might be the only punter so the odds are looking good.

And I wouldn’t expect anything more than what the illustrious ABC had which was a fridge magnet which is almost as noteworthy as Howard’s dob in a neighbour coz he looked sideways magnet.

We’ll see. It’s in June (I think) so there’s plenty of time.

ahhhahha. you guys are hilarious and ignorant thinking that lydia’s medal counts more. sure it is incredible. but have you ever researched how many girls in the world actually do it? try about 30. if you were a gymnast. start at 16 and your odds of being great are high. you can’t just be a gymnast and cross over into successs with snowboarding. Australia already tried to take gymnasts and turn them into half pipe riders. It did not work. There is way more skill involved than just being able to do acrobatics. Have you ever stood on top of a half pipe. i don’t think so otherwise you would not be commenting like this. the amount of skill and edge control needed. incredible. Apart from the acrobatics that is done both from both front and back take offs. You need to actually be able to snowboard to do half pipe. Many aerialist don’t even know how to ski -they are just taught how to land on skis. I am not saying aerials is not amazing to watch.. but it gets a bit boring after a while. it is just one jump people. trying doing ten hits down the pipe.

thanks for that torah fan, and after all that, bring on the World Cup in Sth.Africa. I’ve seen plenty of acrobatics from Italian strikers.

Yes it requires skill, so does skateboarding – do you want that to be an Olympic event too? I don’t. Why not include all sports/pastimes that require a lot of skill .. like rodeo riding, marbles & lawn bowls (well they include curling!). How about sky-diving, abseiling and a lot of other thrill-seeking events, which is all that snow-boarding is.

Baldrick, it’s no wonder you’ve lost interest in AFL. Look at Geelong’s pre-season form, they can’t even beat Nth Melbourne or Richmond.

All part of a cunning plan
