Same arrangements as before folks, either post the scores up here or email them to Raymond and he will forward them to me.

All the best. This sentence just increased my previous output to three.

That took me about an hour to work out. I’m reading about it and even watching a bit, but I still haven’t the faintest idea what I’m doing.

If I never hear the words Jabulani and vuvuzela again I’ll be happy.

  5. Ray Dixon said, on 18 June, 2010 at 1:34 pm

Mine took 5 minutes. Pure guess work.

Hey, I watched the Greece/Nigeria game last night. What a moment it was when Greece after 4 world cups finally managed to score a goal. And guess what? It came from a Greek player’s kick that was about to be easily stopped by the goalie when a Nigerian player deflected it into the net … off his bum!

What is it about soccer that allows that sort of thing to count as a goal? I guess it’s because goals are so hard to score but I think it discredits the game. Maybe they need a differential scoring system like:

3 pts for a clear goal
2 for one that’s touched by, or deflected off, the opposition
1 for a shot that hits the post or top bar but doesn’t go in.

It would make it a lot more interesting.

  6. Rox said, on 18 June, 2010 at 3:21 pm

Into the net Ray, fair means or foul. Like those bastards Italy.

  7. Baldrick said, on 18 June, 2010 at 3:37 pm

Look at you Rox, i’ve created a monster.

  8. Ray Dixon said, on 18 June, 2010 at 3:58 pm

I’m not denying that a deflected goal be counted, but I still think a clear goal should be rewarded more than a deflection off some dimwit’s arse ….. And Italy should be banned!

  9. Rox said, on 18 June, 2010 at 4:52 pm

Italy, yep. But a deflected goal is genius. Or geniarse.

  10. Baldrick said, on 18 June, 2010 at 5:57 pm

    Butt I get your point

  11. Ray Dixon said, on 18 June, 2010 at 6:47 pm

Why can’t Australia use their backsides to better effect? Come on boys, get your bums into gear.

  12. Ray Dixon said, on 18 June, 2010 at 11:33 pm

Well no points for anyone from that game; what happened to that German precision? There will be multiple parties in the western suburbs of Melbourne tonight – Serbian country.

  13. Baldrick said, on 18 June, 2010 at 11:37 pm

My summation of that game is that the Australians knocked the stuffing out of the Germans.

Man of the match, Quck Draw McGraw (aka the ref). Talk about trying to steal airtime.

Breaks it wide open in the group, all Australia needs to do is win both matches and roughly about 4-0 both games and we’re straight through. Simple really.

  14. Ray Dixon said, on 18 June, 2010 at 11:40 pm

We could even top the table if Germany loses or draws with Ghana – which on tonight’s showing is a real possibility. Anyway our fate is back in our own hands.

  15. Baldrick said, on 18 June, 2010 at 11:54 pm

See how Serbia absolutely shut down Germany very early tonight. The gun Oezil never got a sniff. Moron ref totally killed the game. Penalty should never have been missed. Germans blew it.

This suits Australia in the sense that we have been bagged mercilessly, absolutely nothing to lose in going all out to win at least the next game against Ghana. Throw absolutely everything at them and if we lose we go down with respect for trying to win the game.

Serbia will try to sit back perhaps a little in their last match against us as they can’t afford to lose any players due to so many yellows been shown tonight. And they have the luxury of knowing that they think and know they are better than Australia so no need to prove it. They already have three points and may only want to draw. On the other hand, Germany have the superior goal difference.

Oh stuff it, who knows what’s going to happen. What is certain is that both games Australia has to throw the kitchen sink at both teams. Now that is the Australia we know, not the insipid rabble that was forced to play defensively the other night.

  19. Rox said, on 19 June, 2010 at 8:44 am

Baldrick, your comments are masterpieces. I hope we do go out with some honour. They are saying Kewell only has 45 minutes of soccer in him. Better than nothing.

Who are we getting as coach next?

  20. Baldrick said, on 19 June, 2010 at 8:48 am

Eddie the Eagle would be better than the dross we have now

  21. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 11:16 am

Nice going, Baldrick. You submit your tips after the first two games were played and you still got ZERO points! You’re either the world’s most honest man or the dumbest. Which is it?

  22. Rox said, on 19 June, 2010 at 11:43 am

There’s no-one having less fun than us so far. Except maybe the Poms. They’re torn between the Hand of Clod and Calamity James.

    From the ABC.

Good to see some upsets. But having Slovakia AND Slovenia is very confusing. I can’t even be bothered looking up the difference, and I’m a reference librarian. At work. Only 3 hours to go.

  23. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Slovenia & Serbia make up some of the nations once known as Yugoslavia. The other Balkan “nations” include Croatia, who aren’t there this time (they were in 2006), Bosnia, Kosovo, etc, etc.

Slovenia has a population of just 2 million people and has never played at the world cup before, yet they look like going through to the next round.

Imagine how good they’d be as one team if they could just stop killing each other.

Slovakia was once part of Czechoslovakia, which split into Slovakia and the Czech republic after a McDonalds store opened in Prague.

  24. Rox said, on 19 June, 2010 at 1:01 pm

Good on the Slovenes. I hope they make it. I did look them up – it’s still confusing.

  25. Baldrick said, on 19 June, 2010 at 1:32 pm

Is it not possible to be both the world”s most honest and dumbest man?
And the other issue is I’m a Lutheran, condemned by conscience from baptism.
Some more research for you Rox, but Raymond will probably google it quicker.

  26. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 2:02 pm

Don’t need to Google it. I know all about Lutherans – Joh Bjelke Petersen was one. Says it all!

  27. Baldrick said, on 19 June, 2010 at 2:06 pm

He was indeed! We were separated at birth. Peas in a pod politically and philosophically. The resemblances are chilling.

  28. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 2:10 pm

I’m a Scientologist. You can see the resemblance with Travolta & Cruise (and, er, Kate Ceberano).

  29. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 2:10 pm

I’m not really a Scientologist. I am not an alien.

  30. Baldrick said, on 19 June, 2010 at 2:30 pm

Gee, you were quick to retract that. I’m not retracting Lutheranism. I’m not alien either but the jury is still out determining what the heck I am.

Mind you my Lutheranism procliviites and pseudo spritualism don’t give me any better insight as to the outcome of the Cup (note how i skilfully manoeuvred this back to the thread).

  31. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 2:44 pm

I should not only have retracted it, I should have deleted it. Too late – by now it’s been picked up Google crawlers and pinged over to the Scientology headquarters in the US. Any day now John Travolta or Tom Cruise will be knocking on my door. I wouldn’t mind if they sent Kate.

  32. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 2:50 pm

Oh yeah, the world cup – the thing we’re talking about. The way it’s going I’d say anything could happen and a big win by Oz tonight is not unlikely. I mean, who would have thunk Serbia would beat Germany, England would not waltz through the easiest grouping it could have possibly drawn and that little Slovenia would go so well? The only team performing anywhere near to expectation is Argentina, who I think have the cup in the bag. Maradona may be a broken down old nutter but he’s got that team fired up and I don’t see anyone stopping them.

And Spain – what happened to them?

  33. Rox said, on 19 June, 2010 at 3:04 pm

    Are all the tips in?

  34. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 4:02 pm

Yes, scroll up, Rox. Baldrick put his in this morning … AFTER the first 2 results were known.

And Raja put his in on the other thread (Baldrick, you need to copy & paste Raja’s tips for week 2 over here).

  35. Baldrick said, on 19 June, 2010 at 4:45 pm

    Yes, Mr. Hubbard sir.

    Germany 2 1 Serbia
    Slovenia 0 1 USA
    England 1 2 Algeria
    Ghana 2 1 Australia
    Netherlands 1 0 Japan

    Cameroon 0 1 Netherlands
    Portugal 2 3 Brazil
    Korea DPR 1 1 Côte d’Ivoire
    Chile 0 2 Spain
    Switzerland 1 0 Honduras

  36. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 7:21 pm

Thanks. What about England? If they don’t beat Algeria there will be effergies burnt in the streets of London, I reckon.

  37. Baldrick said, on 19 June, 2010 at 7:35 pm

They can start with Boris Johnson. Then every non West Ham player so we can actually look like winning a game or two in the next season.

  38. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 7:51 pm

That group is producing some fascinating scenarios. Slovenia is actually leading on 4 pts. England & USA have 2 pts each and Algeria 1. They’ve all played two games and the remaining games are:

    England v Slovenia
    USA v Algeria

    The possibilities are mind boggling.

  39. Baldrick said, on 19 June, 2010 at 8:50 pm

You’re starting to scare me. Even I’m not that interested in how the Cup is developing.

  40. Ray Dixon said, on 19 June, 2010 at 10:52 pm

Japan are hopeless. How did they get in the world cup?

  41. Ray Dixon said, on 20 June, 2010 at 12:57 am

I don’t understand this game. What was Kewell supposed to do, duck? Bloody Italian referee.

And where’s Josh Kennedy? We need a second goal. Might be an idea to attack, which we haven’t done since we got the first goal after 10 minutes.

  42. Baldrick said, on 20 June, 2010 at 1:01 am

Nothing to lose here other than self respect and international respect. Attack as I mentioned earlier today.

Should have been a yellow and penalty, not red.

  43. Baldrick said, on 20 June, 2010 at 2:01 am

    Aussie Pim

  44. Ray Dixon said, on 20 June, 2010 at 2:12 am

Good effort but I think we didn’t go on the attack early enough in the 2nd half. Wiltshire stuffed up what should have been an easy goal dead in front. Anyway, we’re still a chance to go through if we beat Serbia, depending on what happens between Germany & Ghana. The good thing is our game is last so we’ll go in knowing what’s required.

  45. Rox said, on 20 June, 2010 at 10:20 am

Does anyone REALLY think we’ll go through?

And there’s so much criticism of the refs. They seem to be bad to me, but what do I know? Are some of them just bloody hopeless? there seems to be no consistency.

[On another front, Labor appears to be stuffed. Look forward to your post on that Ray when you have more time.]

  46. Baldrick said, on 20 June, 2010 at 10:22 am

    Overnight scores:
    Netherlands v Japan 1-0
    Ghana & referee v Australia 1-1
    Cameroon v Denmark 1-2

    Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge result for Raja

    Raja + 6 points total 20
    Rox + 1 point total 15
    Ray + 1 point total 14
    Bald + 1 point total 12

  47. Baldrick said, on 20 June, 2010 at 10:25 am

Roz, the football gods have not deemed it appropriate to smile on us at this point. The referees probably still reckon we’re a tinpot footballing nation who don’t deserve to be there. I blame Lleyton Hewiit.

We probably won’t make it to the next round but if we play like we did last night, I’d be happy with that. Now that’s the Aussie way (spits in the corner). And if I were a smoker, I’d be rolling a ciggie.

  48. Baldrick said, on 20 June, 2010 at 10:32 am

Sorry Rox, I was hallucinating about Roz Kelly after your quip about the Labor Party.

  49. Ray Dixon said, on 20 June, 2010 at 11:36 am

Rox, I still think Rudd will get back.

  50. Baldrick said, on 20 June, 2010 at 11:46 am

I agree with Raymond again. I’m starting to think I’m a pigment of my own imagination and perhaps a doppelganger after all.

  51. Rox said, on 20 June, 2010 at 11:51 am

And if I were a smoker, I’d be rolling a ciggie.

    Arrgghh. Stopped 5 weeks ago.

Was the ref an Italian? The one who sent Kewell off?

  52. Baldrick said, on 20 June, 2010 at 12:07 pm

Si. I have a strange feeling had we qualified to the next round we would eventually go on to play the diving, cheating Italians and even up.

    Shrewd.

I still blame Lleyton Hewitt, I’m sure he’s mixed up in all of this.

  53. Rox said, on 20 June, 2010 at 12:21 pm

    I blame the Pope.

  54. Baldrick said, on 20 June, 2010 at 12:25 pm

Ratzi is ok, he’s a German, not a diving cheat. And Germany has got its difficulties now qualifying as well, some divine intervention from the Bavarian wouldn’t go astray.

  55. Ray Dixon said, on 20 June, 2010 at 1:46 pm

The ideal scenario for Oz is if Ghana beats Germany. That would mean we’d only have to beat Serbia by one goal to go through. Ironically, it also suits us if Germany beats Ghana 4-0. In that case we’d have to beat Serbia by 2 goals.

  56. Rox said, on 20 June, 2010 at 2:51 pm

Does anyone know how many red cards have been handed out so far? I’ve seen plenty of yellows, but very few reds.

  57. Ray Dixon said, on 20 June, 2010 at 11:29 pm

Thanks for the 3 pts, Paraguay (and 1 for Rox).

  58. Baldrick said, on 21 June, 2010 at 7:37 am

    Overnight results:

    Slovakia v Paraguay 0-2
    Italy v New Zealand 1-1

    Ray 18
    Baldr. 13

    Excellent work Kiwis

  59. Baldrick said, on 21 June, 2010 at 11:27 am

And those rotten diving cheats the Italians will get their just deserts, and why? As a Lutheran, I believe in justice.

  60. Ray Dixon said, on 21 June, 2010 at 1:34 pm

Question to the soccer expert, Baldy:

If NZ draws with Paraguay 1-1 (and who is to say they will not?) and Italy draws with Slovakia 1-1 (and who is to say they won’t?) that would leave the final points table in that group as follows:

    Paraguay: 5 pts
Italy: 3 pts, zero goal difference, 3 goals for, 3 against
    NZ: as per Italy
    Slovakia: 2 pts

So who goes through, Italy or NZL? And why?

  61. Ray Dixon said, on 21 June, 2010 at 1:39 pm

Btw, I watched the NZ/Italy game and would rate it the best match yet. Really attacking, great defending and riveting to the last seconds.

The only downside was seeing all those overweight NZ bozos in the crowd and their flabby guts when they took their shirts off and waved them over their heads for about the last 20 minutes. It almost made me want to see Italy win, although in hindsight I’m glad they didn’t. Even that penalty goal was scored from a dive. They are the biggest divers in the game, surely. Real sooks.

  62. Baldrick said, on 21 June, 2010 at 5:10 pm

Now I demand you retract that accusation I am an expert!

I’ve got no bloody idea about most things let alone the machinations of qualification, goal difference etc.

This is the bloke who only learnt how to subtract from playing darts for Porepunkah Hotel and being forced to score on the board with the threat of errant, “angry” darts lodging in my earlobe if I got it wrong.

Maybe they will progress through away goals? Or it will be Italy because they’re European and “deserve” to go through, NZ being a tinpot Oceanic sheepshagging side. I’ve got no bloody idea.

What I do know is that I’m progressively becoming more disillusioned in the refereeing and the increasingly biased decision making. They are tainting the beautiful game.

  63. Rox said, on 21 June, 2010 at 5:27 pm

I hope they lose to Patagonia, or whoever it is they play next, 0-5, and that they get a red card caused by someone diving.

The refs are crap, to put it bluntly.

  64. Ray Dixon said, on 21 June, 2010 at 6:10 pm

NZ being a tinpot Oceanic sheepshagging side

I believe an English newspaper described Italy’s show against the Kiwis as being humbled by a country that is “truly the ultimate backwater”.

Rox, I agree with you about the Italians and I think I said above that the penalty against NZL was not a penalty. That Italian bastard dived for sure – the replays proved it. I was very disappointed that the commentators whitewashed over it too. What is going on? Is it really a conspiracy? Seems so.

  65. Baldrick said, on 21 June, 2010 at 6:19 pm

This is the beauty of the game. At this level, it is very open for any international team to play well.

I’m really happy that this will raise the profile of football in New Zealand as it has here in Oz.

As Ted Whitten once said in one of his more tempered moods, ” Stick it right up em”.

  66. Rox said, on 21 June, 2010 at 6:29 pm

I believe that joke about Italian war tanks now.

  67. Baldrick said, on 21 June, 2010 at 6:46 pm

The one forward, three reverse gears? That ain’t no joke.

  68. Ray Dixon said, on 21 June, 2010 at 7:12 pm

They are no certainties to beat Slovakia. In fact Italy hasn’t won an International since last November; they seem to have forgotten how.

Maybe the deadlock scenario I mentioned above goes to red cards then? Baldrick, please investigate, find out & report back. You’re supposed to be running this show.

    Just Google it.

Okay, I’ll do it myself. After all, it requires an advanced monkey to type words into Google.

  71. Rox said, on 22 June, 2010 at 6:24 am

How about Portugal? Hurray! I get a point I think, but who would have picked SEVEN?

  72. Baldrick said, on 22 June, 2010 at 7:18 am

    Rox rocks!

    Overnight scores:

    Portugal v Nth.Korea 7-0
    Spain v Honduras 2-0
    Chile v Honduras 1-0

    Points update:

    Rox 7 points to 26
    Raja 3 points to 24
    Ray 1 point to 19
    Bald. 2 points to 15

  73. Ray Dixon said, on 22 June, 2010 at 8:36 am

Honduras were busy last night. I think you mean Chile 1 Switzerland 0.

Anyway, well done Rox. On top at last!

  74. Rox said, on 22 June, 2010 at 10:55 am

    I’m a legend. For a day.

  75. Baldrick said, on 22 June, 2010 at 1:20 pm

Yes, apologies, Switzerland it was meant to be.

  76. Ray Dixon said, on 22 June, 2010 at 1:29 pm

I like the thought of Honduras having to play two matches in succession though. Might as well get the rabble over & done with and out of the way. They should have done that to New Zuland too.

  77. Ray Dixon said, on 22 June, 2010 at 5:05 pm

Okay, from the official rule book for the FIFA 2010 World Cup (wasn’t hard to find!):

    4. The league format will be used: each team playing one match against
each of the other teams in the same group, with three points for a win,
one point for a draw and none for a defeat.

    5. The ranking of each team in each group will be determined as follows:
    a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
    b) goal difference in all group matches;
    c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.

If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria,
their rankings will be determined as follows:

    d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between
    the teams concerned;
    e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the
    teams concerned;
    f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the
    teams concerned;
    g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.

Um, it’s still not clear. Baldy, can you interpret this?

  78. Rox said, on 22 June, 2010 at 6:09 pm

Go for g. It’s the only one I can understand.

  79. Rox said, on 22 June, 2010 at 6:11 pm

I’ve put it on Facebook to try and get an answer.

  80. Ray Dixon said, on 22 June, 2010 at 6:18 pm

    Yeah, a, b, c & g I get.

But as for d, e & f, well, what “group matches between the teams concerned” are they referring to?

  81. Rox said, on 22 June, 2010 at 6:47 pm

    Also Crikey.

  82. Ray Dixon said, on 22 June, 2010 at 7:06 pm

    Try Twitter.

  83. Rox said, on 23 June, 2010 at 6:27 am

In that scenario,I believe that Italy and NZ draw lots to decide who goes through.

No doubt the loser will then draw pistols at dawn with Sepp Blatter. :-)

Got that from Crikey. Obviously nobody knows.

  84. Baldrick said, on 23 June, 2010 at 7:17 am

    Overnight results:

    Mexico v Uruguay 0-1
    France v Sth.Africa 1-2
    Nigeria v Sth.Korea 2-2
    Greece v Argentina 0-2

    Points Update:

    Rox 1 point to 27
    Raja 3 points to 27
    Ray 1 point to 20
    Bald 3 points to 18

  85. Ray Dixon said, on 23 June, 2010 at 11:15 am

Good to see the poncy French team go out in humiliating circumstances. It’s not really Europe’s cup this year, is it? Let’s hope Germany follows suit by losing to Ghana and letting the Ozzies in.

  86. Rox said, on 23 June, 2010 at 1:25 pm

    One piffling point!

And yes, all fingers and toes crossed for Australia (and NZ).

  87. Ray Dixon said, on 23 June, 2010 at 2:39 pm

    And Ghana!

  88. Baldrick said, on 23 June, 2010 at 5:04 pm

Fecking early mornings and no sleep ins. One last gasp for the Skips, if we go, I’m on the German bandwagon, and once they’re gone, I’m on the Kiwis.

  89. Rox said, on 23 June, 2010 at 5:41 pm

I’m going straight to NZ. Are they through yet?

  90. Baldrick said, on 23 June, 2010 at 5:48 pm

Not yet, NZ have to play Paraguay who are top of their pool. The Italians and Kiwis are on exactly the same points and goal difference. Need Slovakia to win but they’re bottom of the pool (not drowning yet) with a -2 goal difference, tricky. The more I think about this the more I struggle. And you talk about mental challenges Raymond. I’m imploding.

  91. Ray Dixon said, on 23 June, 2010 at 7:35 pm

Um, this gets back to my original question if you care to scroll up. What will happen if NZ & Italy end up deadlocked on the same points & same goal difference? Sounds like it would go down to the drawing of lots. What a nutty game!

  92. Ray Dixon said, on 23 June, 2010 at 11:09 pm

Going to bed soon with alarm set @ 4am. Any Aussie who doesn’t get up and root for the Socceroos is unAustralian and should be deported to Indonesia via Christmas Island.

    FOUR MORE GOALS.

    FOUR MORE GOALS.

    FOUR MORE GOALS.

    (and none to Serbia)

  93. Baldrick said, on 23 June, 2010 at 11:18 pm

Just think England “could” depart the Cup before we do.

  94. Ray Dixon said, on 24 June, 2010 at 6:08 am

Ten minutes to go. Aussies doing their bit @ 2-0 but Germany @ 1-0 are letting us down. Just one more goal each.

  95. Ray Dixon said, on 24 June, 2010 at 6:11 am

That’s it. Goal to Serbia courtesy of a botched save by our goalie. We’ll win this but we are out.

  96. Rox said, on 24 June, 2010 at 6:25 am

    I think we’ve had it.

  97. Rox said, on 24 June, 2010 at 6:27 am

And so has Kevin Rudd by the look of it.

  98. Ray Dixon said, on 24 June, 2010 at 6:32 am

    I blame Germany.

    And Ghana.

    And Abbott.

  99. Ray Dixon said, on 24 June, 2010 at 6:35 am

Actually, I blame YOU, Rox. You tipped Australia 2-1 and now you’ve got another 3 pts at our boys’ expense. Shame on you.

  100. Rox said, on 24 June, 2010 at 6:38 am

Oh God, I’m sorry. I can’t believe how upset I feel.

Oh well, I’ll be at work soon and then I’ll really have something to be upset about.

Fancy the USA getting through. Good on them.

  101. Baldrick said, on 24 June, 2010 at 7:09 am

    Overnight results:

    Slovenia v England 0-1
    USA v Algeria 1-0
    Australia v Serbia 2-1
    Germany v Ghana 1-0

    Points update:

    Rox 6 points to 33
    Raja 3 points to 30
    Ray 6 points to 26
    Bald 3 points to 21

    Well done Rox and Ray.

Australia, an excellent performance against a quality opposition. Was always going to be tough to get through, Ghana knew exactly what it needed to do throughout the game. it may also be the case that Germany held back as well, certainly hope so. We go home, reputation intact after that ridiculous tactical farce in the first match.

Tantalising game, Germany v England. English always make out that the Germans are their natural enemy in football, not the way the Germans see it, their foes are more the French ( a joke this campaign) and the Dutch ( a far more formidable opponent).

  102. Ray Dixon said, on 24 June, 2010 at 7:48 am

Ghana have to be the luckiest team to go through to the final 16. One win & one draw (which they should have lost) against teams reduced to 10 men by crap referee decisons and a scoreless loss. A total of 2 goals for, 2 against.

I get the impression that Ghana were just content to minimise the loss against Germany and coast through. Real ordinary.

Still, it’s our own fault – we blew it in game one and, despite playing well since then, we couldn’t make up the ground.

  103. Baldrick said, on 24 June, 2010 at 7:55 am

Exactly. Now piss off Pim. Let’s scout for someone with imagination and understands the Australian game.

  104. Ray Dixon said, on 25 June, 2010 at 2:05 am

    New Zealand/Paraguay, nil all draw.

Great effort by undefeated Kiwis, with 3 pts.

Sadly not enough to go through.

    HOWEVER.

    On the bright side.

    The best news yet.

    Slovakia 3 Italy 2

    Italy go out.

Bottom of the table with only 2 pts.

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving team of diving cheats.

  105. Rox said, on 25 June, 2010 at 6:31 am

    Arrivederci Azzurri.

  106. Baldrick said, on 25 June, 2010 at 7:33 am

France after cheating to get there with their handball against Ireland OUT
Italy, fecking diving cheats against New Zealand and just about everyone else OUT

Great work Kiwis. Great work Aussies. Football in Oceania will thrive on their results.

  107. Baldrick said, on 25 June, 2010 at 7:40 am

Congratulations Rox. If you call Raymond he will put you through to his producers and they will take your details.

  110. Rox said, on 26 June, 2010 at 10:01 am

Good lord. I can”t believe it.

Long live the world game. Now what?

  111. Baldrick said, on 26 June, 2010 at 10:16 am

I reckon we can do the final 16 matches. If someone finds a link for the matches, then we can post them up and proceed as we did with the first round matches.

  112. Ray Dixon said, on 26 June, 2010 at 11:27 am

See new post. Now what are we doing about draws & penalty shoot outs?

  113. Ray Dixon said, on 26 June, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Forgot to say congratulations to Rox for winning round one. Well done on a come-from-behind & runaway victory – much like the Saints did last night.

Your buy-two-nights-get-the-third-night-free voucher is in the email.

So Baldy, does this mean we have a clean slate for Rd 2 and we all start from zero? Come on, you’re in charge here, where are the rules?

  114. Baldrick said, on 26 June, 2010 at 1:03 pm

Check the other thread. Yes, we start fresh to give me some hope
