Hahahaha!!! Apparently both sides offered him a ministry. Can you imagine?
Good one!
Have you been flooded?
Hi Don – no, Bright was not in much trouble, as we’re well upstream and while there was plenty of water coming through, it mainly stayed within the narrow gorge and only flooded in a few places. The town of Myrtleford downstream copped it because it’s flatter there.
We haven’t been either in case anyone was worried.
Has Baldy left for the Vaterland yet?
Nope not yet Rox, leave on the 23rd.
Go now – Geelong are finished!
Katter the mad was the only one with brains.
We’re fucked.
Come on, Orville, give this a chance to work. How would it have worked if the 3 ex-Nats joined the coalition? They’d just be returning to the party that they left.
I think it’s a fantastic opportunity, especially for country Australia. But I also understand Orville’s doubts. There is the potential for a grand fuck-up, but also for something terrific – if everyone works for the country’s good. Good grief, what am I saying? They’re all politicians.
Anyway, that’s what we voted for so let’s give it a go. I think the 2 party system is finished and a good thing too.
“that’s what we voted for so let’s give it a go. I think the 2 party system is finished and a good thing too”
I agree with the first part, Rox, but not necessarily with the second.
It might not work, especially if the Greens get ahead of themselves and want to drag a lot of important bills into committee and stall the process – like they did over the ETS.
It will be interesting to see if the Greens can understand that having 11% of the popular vote DOES NOT entitle you to impose your views on the other 89%.
But I agree – let’s give it a go. I’m sure that some very good things will come out of this, particularly for regional areas.
Is it an Australian trait to be negative about everything? Why is it doomed to failure?
Why do we always have to listen to the doomsayers and listen to the popular press eg. the Herald Sun, their sub banner today as atrocious. “Day Two .. and Team Julia at War”
“Election farce” etc. This is reprehensible.
What happened to the Australian spirit of a fair go? Why not allow a very complex system to work itself out?
Don’t expect the pressure to ease off any time soon, Baldrick. The Libs and their press chums will keep this up in the belief they can force a new election. It will be interesting to see if the Libs join forces with Nutjob Fielding between now & July to block bills in the Senate. I envisage more than a few dirty tricks coming up.
Immigration.
*ducks for cover*
The Australian spirit of a fair go is a myth.
