“I don’t do buses”
Sophie Mirabella staffer takes $906 cab ride
This story almost speaks for itself. My comment follows the excerpt from the HeraldSun:
A LIBERAL staffer who splurged $906 on a cab ride from Wodonga to Melbourne boasted on Facebook: “I don’t do buses.” Adam Wyldeck, who works for Victorian Liberal MP Sophie Mirabella, provided taxi fare updates on Facebook as he travelled to the airport on Sunday.
“Not even in Melbourne yet and the cab fare is sitting at $756,” he wrote.
After a Facebook friend asked whether he could have caught a bus, Mr Wyldeck replied: “I don’t do buses.”
He said he couldn’t go by rail because “trains left way too early”.
“It’s just how I roll,” he wrote. When people on Facebook questioned the trip as a blatant waste, Mr Wyldeck urged them not to make assumptions, but wrote “democracy isn’t cheap”.
Comment:
Wyldeck now claims he never had any intention of leaving the taxpayers to foot the bill for his wasteful fare even though he used a government Cabcharge voucher as he “had no money” in his wallet at the time (what about a credit card, mate?), and that he “planned to pay for it” all along.
Yeah, right, sure he did.
Look, no staffer is so well paid that he’d actually plan to reimburse the government $906 for taking a cab from Wodonga to Melbourne. This tool just got caught out – because he was stupid enough to boast about it on Facebook. While he was still in the cab!
At least Adam hasn’t been caught out groping females at Parliamentary functions, unlike a previous Sophie staffer – Scrinis was his name. Where does Sophie get her staffers from? And what the hell do they do anyway?

AFL round 1 (2011) ‘expert’ tips
It’s ‘Liar, liar, pants on fire’ round
If Tony Abbott can call our PM “Ju-Liar” and a “bitch” (which he effectively has), then I can certainly say the same about a certain 17-year-old (who shall remain nameless and unidentified but who is Kim Duthie and whose photo appears here to the left), who caused the Saints all kinds of hell over the off-season with her stealing, lying, manipulative & self-serving ways. I don’t have a lot of sympathy for Nixon though, he was just a fool. The whole saga is not really worth commenting on, except to say that the vilification and scorn poured on the club by some sections of the media, the public and even ex-pollies like Peter ‘noballs’ Costello, says more about the mindset and attitude of the detractors than it does about the integrity of the St Kilda Football Club, which remains intact.
There, I’ve said it. Having given my point of view on those most bizarre events it’s time to get down to the real business of ‘expert’ footy tipping. The ‘expert’ panel of Tassie Rox (she’s a Greens supporter!), Baldrick from Bright (he’s, um, different), King of Euroa Greg Naylor (last year’s winner and a great guy – for a Collingwood supporter) and yours truly has reassembled to give our 7 million worldwide followers their ‘expert’ guidance on which teams to back – and why - round by round. I’m just surprised the Aussie media keeps ignoring us. Here are the Rd 1 tips: (more…)
Ditch the signs Tony
Regardless of what you think about Prime Minister Julia Gillard and her proposed carbon tax (and I do have strong doubts about it myself), it wasn’t great form for Tony Abbott and his fellow opposition members to address an anti-carbon tax rally outside Parliament house standing in front of protest signs that read:
“JULIAR – BOB BROWNS BITCH” (that one’s wrong on so many levels)
&
“DITCH THE BITCH” (or does it say “witch”?)
It’s just not appropriate for the Opposition leader to effectively condone those slogans. Then again, you could say that the placement of Bronwyn Bishop and ‘Our Sophie’ directly beneath the b-word was entirely correct. You could say it, but I won’t, of course.

Alpine Opinion to resume
I bet you’re glad to hear that. After a long hiatus I’ve decided to resume blogging … any day now. The fact that the footy season starts this Thursday wouldn’t have anything to do with it though !! Stay tuned, there are a few topics I’d like to write about apart from AFL – like Alpine cattle grazing and the ridiculous excuse used by the State Government & mountain cattlemen that ‘Alpine grazing reduces blazing’. Yeah, right.
