Stuart’s got talent

Posted in Bright Australia, Entertainment, Local news, Music, tv by Ray Dixon on 30 June, 2011

I’m no great fan of TV talent shows like Australian Idol but the performance of one of our local residents, Stuart Biggins from Porepunkah (which is all but a part of Bright) on the Channel 7 show Australia’s got talent, is something to behold. He’s through to the next stage and it’s no wonder. Stuart is a 47 y.o. tiler and part-time musician and was motivated to go on the show by his wife’s recent illness. I’ve met Stuart when I bought some tiles from a very upmarket tile shop he was running in Myrtleford for a while. The shop has since closed (too upmarket for the area I suggest) and now he’s back to doing tiling for a living. Not for long though after this performance. Watch it please – he’s all class and if you fail to be moved by this you ain’t got a heart. Go Stuart:

Answering on right post. I normally don’t watch commercial TV except for footy. I did watch that episode because i knew he would be on and I have heard him sing at a venue before at Ringer Reef. He is very versatile. Very pleased with his success not only because he is a yokel but also because they’re a terrific family.

Your mate Stuart just blew the audience away with Farnham’s Age of Reason. God he was good – the judges loved it and so did I. I just voted for him.. :D

    Dear Ray,

Stuart Biggins here. Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I want to thank the whole community too for all their support. What a great community to be a part of.

I have been living here now for 7 years and love being part of a “real” community. I don’t know how they got Albury in the mix, considering I live in Porepunkah but I should thank them too for their show of support.

It was very nerve-wracking doing that song. I sang it for the first time the day before we recorded the show and wasn’t sure how it would sound compared to JF but thanks to a great band it all came together on the day and I felt comfortable and confident. It was bloody hard fitting it all into two minutes though.

I hope your tiles look great too. Your place looks great since the renovation. If you need more tiles I have moved to the industrial area in Bright and hope to officially open in a couple of months.

Thanks again for your kind words and support hope I get through to the finals.

    Yours sincerely,

    Stuart Biggins

I am a viewer of Australia’s got Talent and am thrilled that you have gone so far into the competition.
You not only have talent….but at 47 years of age…you must be one of the hottest males around….
I’d love you to finally have your dream come true with your singing, but if I were an agent I would be grabbing you for some older male modelling….Don’t get big headed, but you are sooo handsome and a lovely guy to go
with it…I am happy for you and your family. Good luck…even if you don’t win the big one…I hope someone out in the recording world gives you a break……you deserve it….it warms the cockles of my soul to see someone
after such a long time finally receive recognition of some kind…..this is why I support this show immensely.

Actually, flower, I asked Stuart if Glen Wheatley had been in touch with him to sign him up as the new Farnham. Pity Glen went broke. I agree, someone should sign him up pretty damn quickly.
