“Sorry” seems to be the hardest word …. for Andrew Bolt

Posted in law by Ray Dixon on 29 September, 2011

What is all the fuss about?

Why is Andrew Bolt crying over the Federal Court decision that found he breached the Racial Discrimination Act?

Loss of free speech?

Give me a break.  Bolt’s front page bleatings in today’s Herald Sun  prove – conclusively – that he has suffered no such loss by the court’s decision.

He’s said it all again, only this time he removed the nasty bits.

Big deal Andrew.

Just publish a bloody apology and move on.

Andrew Bolt and his mantra of free speech, are a decoy, in short Bolt is a racist, and it’s all about him. Bolt and Irving have a lot in common, both are deniers, Bolt a Stolen Generation Denier, Irving a Holocaust denier. Ch. 10 must sack Bolt.

G’day Richard. Thanks for visiting the north east.

Agree with Richard. Bolt disgusts me. What he sprouts is “un Australian”.

Bolt from my memory of his bio grew up as either the only white kid or one of only a few white kids in a top end indigenous community. His best friends growing up were indigenous and as I read it his piece expressed disdain that people who were more white than aboriginal were taking advantage of systems designed to improve the circumstances of the types of communities he grew up in.
    What a racist bastard.
Also good on you guys for not bothering to do any research whatsoever, just helps prove how stupid the left actually are.

Kim, the post is not about Bolt’s upbringing or whether or not he’s a racist. It’s a comment about the court’s finding that he breached the Racial Discrimination Act with his articles and his refusal to apologise. No other research was required.

‘in short Bolt is a racist’
Ray what comment have you made about the courts finding?
In any case it is clear that Bolt is in the business of writing his opinions down. How would you feel if you were told that you were not free to hold an opinion? His may be stupid at times but surely he is to be permitted to hold whatever views he wishes.

Kim, please don’t use someone else’s quote and attribute it to me – I didn’t say that, it was Richard.

As for my comment on the court’s finding the post is self explanatory – Bolt was found to have breached the Racial Discrimination Act and his (and your) reaction is to say it’s “a sad day for free speech”. Yet in the article I have linked to where he says that (if you bothered to read it) he has essentially said everything that he previously said. So where is the loss of free speech?

The simple reality is that in his original articles he went too far and his bleating is just more grandstanding.

Sorry Ray the original comment was actually in response to baldrick11.

Bolt has a right to free speech and is thankfully in the employ of the Herald Sun, where he belongs.
Nevertheless, his posionous vitriole is gobbled up by rednecks who in turn use this to their own advantage, researched or not. It is a fine line when making comments isn’t it? I suppose we ought allow David Irving back into Australia, Canada and Germany. What harm could his posturings possibly have?

Democracy means even rednecks & bigots can have a say, Baldrick. What some of them don’t understand though is that there are restrictions on what you can say, such as defamation and racist talk. Restricting that type of shit is not a restriction of freedom of speech – it’s a protection of the targets’ rights.

  11. baldrick11 said, on 12 October, 2011 at 8:46 pm

That’s what makes you and me lefty loonies isn’t it? The protection of those who can be libelled, suppressed, exploited., can’t have that can we?

  12. kimsonof said, on 12 October, 2011 at 9:54 pm

Baldrick your name suits you and ray read the whole comment please. If either of you had bothered to really analyse Bolt’s original article you would discover (as I have said elsewhere) that in his own way Bolt was attempting to protect and promote the rights of disadvantaged indigenous Australians.

Yeah? Well maybe Bolt just needs to be less vitriolic in his speech, Kim.

  14. Richard Ryan said, on 18 October, 2011 at 9:23 am

Yeah? Maybe, self-pity mealy-mouth Bolt needs to shut-up for a short period, now that he has won that sexist award.

AS I said before—Bolt is a confirmed racist.
