AFL Grand Final 2011
Wow, it’s Grand Final eve and tomorrow we get to see if Collingwood goes back-to-back or if Geelong exerts its dominance with 3 flags in 5 years. Boy, am I excited or what? No. I’m not.
“Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……………….” Would someone kindly wake me up when it’s over?

It should be a good game and at east one of our expert tipping team will be over the moon. I’m looking forward to it.
A blowout, Rox. That’s my prediction – Geelong by plenty. (God, they’ll never shut up then!)
No word from Baldrick since he took off for Tassie – I hope he’s not rowing over.
So do I – he’ll have been blown to NZ by now.
He’s either lost at sea or too pissed to find an Internet cafe. (Memo to Mrs Baldrick: buy him a NotePad, iPad or iPhone for Christmas).
Are you watching CH 10′s ‘magnificent’ pre-Grand Final coverage from the MCG? Nothing about football – all about their own reality TV shows.
Now they’re talking to a MasterChef judge about Meat Loaf … both types. Hilarious jokes like ‘Can Meat Loaf be served soggy?’ Thank Christ Ch10 is bowing out of footy next year.
Meat Loaf performance cancelled due to the rain? LMAO.
Or is it? Hey, a giant inflatible Premiership Cup has appeared in the middle of the G – that’s all class.
Meat Loaf is going ahead. He’s on now and singing ‘You took the words right out of my mouth’. Don’t you just love the way the AFL brings out has been performers from the USA for our biggest national sporting event? They should just play the Reserves game and forget this crap.
Oh Vanessa – you were doing so well with Advance Australia Fair, until the last line. Why the screaming?
Geelong might have blown it already. They got away well but let C’wood back in to be only 1 pt ahead at 1/4 time. If they can’t get a good break on them by 1/2 time there’s no way the Cats can win – C’wood will finish better.
I’ve changed my mind – half time and C’wood are up by 3 pts but it’s Geelong who have fought back after looking gone. Anyone’s game from here.
Congratulations to Geelong. Brought Collingwood to their knees in the end – too strong. I’d give the Norm Smith to the JPod for going off injured in the 2nd quarter without getting a kick. It changed the game for Geelong.
Great footy – bloody awful singing, except for the MSO chorale. What a waste of money to bring Meatloaf out, and as for that silly tart who “sang” the national anthem – she looked and sounded cheap, cheap, cheap.
Too old, too slow !!! I’m as relieved as I am happy. This is a good team and, no, I won’t be gloating Raymond. Mind you I wore the colours with pride at Salamanca Market this morning. Amazing the level of support we had or probably more likely support against the Scum. Meat Loaf should be renamed Meathead, that performance was as woeful as Collingwood’s and yeh the squeal at the end of Amarossi’s performance spoiled a good performance.
Rox, I love Tassie. First night was in Hadspen. We’ve been in Hobart for the last two days. More specifically, Risdon, right opposite the prison where I suspect they are substantially Pies supporters. Hobart is terrific. We were in Launceston first night. Liked that too. Tomorrow Port Arthur, Tuesday Bicheno, then back home on boat. Home Wednesday.
Boat trip was very smooth despite the chaos in Melbourne as we drove to the ship.
Borrowed #1 son’s Tom Tom and listened to an Antiguan’s manic directions and drove him/it into apoplexy as we deliberately took wrong turns.
Ok, a subdued celebration tonight. Our community service to humanity in destroying the Scum, tick.
Sorry about the weather Baldy. Don’t go to the Risdon Tavern whatever you do – they buy their grog in “flagoons” and “cartoons” there.
Glad you like the place.
Hehe Rox, I did indeed go to the Tavern, it is right next door. I was surrounded by the Scum supporters and I made a hasty retreat settling for the 30cm tele. Luxury, but I kept my teeth, pity about the collingwood supporters around the corner who didn’t
Why are there any Collingwood supporters at all down in Hobart, Rox? Please explain. Were they transported there when Pentridge was pulled down and now, following release, can’t afford the fare back to Melbourne?
Btw, Baldrick, Porepunkah has renamed itself back to Porepunkah after the “Welcome to Reidtown” sign was pulled down during the last quarter while Tommy was pulling Ben’s pants down too. He finally came good!
I felt for Reid. The poor lad is going to have nightmares for months given the ignominy of being slaughtered by the Tomahawk. To give the latter credit, though, he has been coming good through the finals series.
Hawkins has had a great few weeks and it should now be obvious that the JPod should retire and make way for one spearhead who needs the space that Pods was occupying & demanding. He came of age and if he can just learn to kick straight he could be great.
But I don’t feel sorry for Reid – he had his moment last year against Riewoldt (twice).
Btw, Does St Kilda have a new coach on the way?
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/mick-malthouse-quits-collingwood/story-e6frf9jf-1226155212044
MICK Malthouse says he decided six weeks ago not to fulfil his contract as director of coaching at Collingwood next year. After today’s Grand Final brought down the curtain on a playing and coaching career spanning almost 40 years at the top level, Malthouse said he would not be at the Magpies in any capacity next season
Could be on to something there. I believe Malthouse is a big fan of Milne.
We have Magpies supporters because we have Magpie teams – Glenorchy and Scottsdale. My family comes form Scottsdale and many of my cousins made up the Scottsdale footy team. I think Dad even played a couple of games with them back in the late ’30s.
By the way Baldrick, have a quick look at Risdon Brook dam before you go – it’s just after the roundabout on the left (the second exit). It’s very pretty.
Cheers Rox, will do
Malthouse started his VFL/AFL career @ St Kilda and has previously said that’s where he’d like to end up, as their coach. Doors open, Mick.
The Ox may be slow but St.Kilda are patient?
We’ll give him until tomorrow to decide.
Hey, what’s going on WordPress – don’t you know it’s daylight saving and the time right now is 9.43 am?
Oh, it’s up to me to change the settings? Okay, done that, now let’s see – it’s 10.13 am.
Yes! (It was a technical miracle)
Funny how those anonymous Collingwood trolls who usually delight in posting foul-mouthed gloating comments (that don’t get through) have gone terribly silent since yesterday.
So are we going to have a cricket tipping comp now?
In a word, Rox: No.
Bugger.

Malthouse as gracious as ever. Good luck to Buckley.
He’ll be at St Kilda by the end of the week.
I’m back comrades. Fantastic time in Tassie. Adore the place. I’ll spare you all the slide night unless there is a special request. Bugger all sleep on the ship but enjoyed it nonetheless.
Ling retires. What a trooper he’s been. I like Scott’s calmness and believe he will look at the next generation to keep us competitive. He will deliver. Finally put the Geelong guernsey in the wash, correction, it found its own way there. Go you mighty Cats !!!
Let’s see the slides.
I’m just back too. From Melbourne. A funeral. Re Cameron Ling retiring: Now he can go back to his old job – pig farming.
Photos, Baldrick. Documentary proof of your Tassie trip or it didn’t happen.
