Forty seven reasons to dump Michael Clarke

Posted in cricket by Ray Dixon on 11 November, 2011

For once, the headline doesn't go far enough.

How can a national cricket side like Australia that dismisses its opposition for just 96 runs and leads by nearly 200 on the first innings, end up getting belted by 8 wickets in less than 3 days?

I dunno, but maybe ask our ’boy’ captain Michael Clarke how his side only managed an embarrassing 47 runs in its 2nd innings.

What a bloody joke. Clarke is no leader.

Don’t panic Mr.Mainwaring, it’s only cricket. The world neither knows or gives a stuff.

Oh. We all give a stuff when we’re winning though. Bring back Warnie.

Crikey, some people do take the game too seriously:

Roebuck appeared to be in a disturbed state last night. He was spoken to by police officers in his room on the sixth floor of the Southern Sun Hotel Newlands in Capetown at around 10 pm.

Police are understood to have removed personal items from his room. His body was taken to the mortuary in the early hours of the morning.

    Sounds like suicide.

Oh great, Australia has selected an 18-year-old fast bowler for the 2nd Test in a bid to save the series. Yeah … that’ll work.

    well, it did work!

Can’t say I was impressed by Clarkes attitude in winning the 2nd Test. It was not a great series. We were disgraceful in the first test and nearly threw away the second. NZ will present a real challange to our new younger side.

He just got lucky that Cummins turned out to be such a gem, JB. We’ve got no hope against the Kiwis without him, Watson, etc.

We may manage to get past the Kiwi’s (maybe…..) but India is going to be a real struggle! What’s your thoughts on Punter? Time up?

Definitely. No point taking up a spot and stopping a youg guy getting some experience. He should play in the Gabba Test, make 100 and then retire.

He should also play the Hobart Test! Go out in his home town.

He doesn’t need to go out anywhere right now. Playing better than most

You can always rely on the Kiwis to play Australia back into form, Rox. We went in with no front-line bowlers to speak of and no Watson, yet they still capitulated in the 2nd innings. Made Clarke look good.

    Well….Clarke made a few runs!

An amazing turnaround, JB. That’s made his job safe for at least another year. And if the side keeps winning he’ll stay there for several more years.

Thank the new selection panel I reckon!
